The Shenandoah Valley Governor’s School (SVGS) Steering Committee met on Wednesday. I always enjoy hearing about the amazing things that our students are up to. The Robotics Team won the Judges’ Award at the Robotics Southwest Virginia District Event. Students also participated in the regional science fair at JMU, with four students qualifying to participate in the state science fair in April. SVGS will be hosting an Open House this Thursday, March 24th, from 5:30pm – 8:15pm; if you’ve never had the opportunity to see the work these students are doing, both in the STEM and Arts and Humanities programs, I highly recommend stopping by.
Another event worth checking out this week is the Youth Art Exhibit at Waynesboro High School on Tuesday, the 22nd, from 5pm – 9pm. This is an exhibition of visual and performing arts from the schools.
As I mentioned in last week’s post, we postponed our budget adoption meeting to the 22nd to allow time for Central Office to receive official numbers from the state. We will meet Tuesday, the 22nd, at 7pm in Central Office to approve our 16/17 budget.
